Robert Ciaffone, known as Bob Ciaffone to the poker community, is a world renowned expert on cardroom rules. He compiled the rules of poker and reorganized and improved the wording for the book. Ciaffone worked for several cardrooms and as a rules consultant. He even authored the rules for the Poker Players Association. The association is no longer in existence, but Ciaffone continues to be a top authority on cardroom rules.

Probability
How can we calculate the Probability of playing poker? The probabilities of the different poker hands are calculated by using the binomial coefficient and arithmetic. These two quantities are known as the frequency and distinctness of the different poker hands. If you have a hand with more than one pair and no ties, you can also calculate the probability of that hand. However, you should note that the probabilities do not apply to five-card hands with at least one pair.
Tie hands
A tie in poker occurs when two players hold the same five-card combination but the next card is different. Some common examples of tie hands are two pairs of sevens or a pair of twos. If the higher pair has a lower pair, the tie is broken by the player holding the higher pair. Certain textures on the board make ties more likely. Betting intervals
Betting intervals in poker vary according to the variation played. During the initial round of betting, the players must post “blinds” (small, medium, or big) on the table. The first player to act must place the small blind and the next player to their left must raise the big blind proportionally. The remaining players must check their hand during each betting interval and raise the bets proportionally based on their contributions to the pot. The number of chips remaining in the pot determines the winner.
Strategy
If you’re looking for an edge in the poker game, you must understand pot odds. Pot odds are the ratio of the size of the pot to the amount of money you must bet. In other words, if you bet $10 to win a $40 pot, the odds are four to one in your favor. This ratio should be higher than one in order to create a reasonable expectation of winning. Moreover, a positive expectation requires that the odds of winning are higher than the pot size.
